So, if you infect the mature neurons with a virus containing a reporter casette under the control of a developmentally silenced gene promoter, do you think the reporter will be expressed or not?
I would assume that the exogenous promoter would not be tightly controlled as the endogenous one for sure, but the levels of the expression would be very low. Assuming that the gene is actually not developmentally silenced, do you think if it will still be possible to conclude if the promoter is active/silenced in the adulthood?
