First dissolve the powder in 80mL of milliQ water and heat upto 68 degree C for complete dissolution and then make upto 100mL with milliQ water. Then you can store at room temperature for months. If you observe precipitation, reheat the solution in 68 deg C for 10 mins and you use it. Do not autoclave the SDS Solution. It will results in precipitation. Also donot store the solution in 4 degree C.

Normally, SDS does not precipitate at Room Temperature (25 deg C). I agree with Nisha, you can heat it to prepare its solution. I routinely prepare 10% SDS solution (100 ml) by adding 10g SDS in 80 ml of deionized water, heating it at 40-50 deg C till it dissolves and subsequently making up the volume to 100 ml.

Do not autoclave the solution. Also, make sure that the SDS powder has completely dissolved before leaving it at room temperature. Vigorous stirring will cause excessive frothing, so keep the stirrer speeds low while dissolving SDS. Gentle mixing is sufficient to dissolve it at 40-50 deg C.
