Is phenol red acting against cell lines?
Phenol red as some estrogenic activity and may intervene your experiment.
Phenol red is highly light-absorbent in the visible spectrum and can easily photo-sensitize cells, making them more susceptible to photo damage during fluorescence imaging.
How do you properly monitor media pH in culture without phenol red in your media? I'm switching to phenol-red free for a fluorescence assay.
