The samples are usually considered to be either homogeneous or heterogeneous depending on their complexity. It would be easier to detect if the protein of interest is over expressed and is the major protein present in the cell culture supernatant.
As mentioned in the document that if there are factors like cell viability, number, etc which could influence the concentration of your protein of interest (decreased concentration) in the cell culture supernatant then the kit may not be able to detect the protein of interest.
