I recently ordered a neomycin resistant plasmid to use for the transfection of human cancer cells. It came to my attention that it is recommended that I use G418 instead of the neomycin for the selection process. Could anyone explain to me why this is the case? Can cells still be successfully selected with standard neomycin instead?

Thanks in advance for your help!
