Why genetic models (TG, KI, KO) are induced far more common in mouse than in rat?

My question is concerning models of neurodegenrative diseases.

The most important "why" is the cost.

They are easy to manipulate, do not take so many space, do not consume too much food, do not need so much anesthesia.....

Also, they are used for a lot of research groups all around the word, so there are a lot of information about them
