We know HRT of fresh cow manure to produce biogas is more than 25 days(Ambient temperature around 30 degree centigrade) . But biogas can be produced in around 2-3 days during activation period (initial period of bio-digester activation). I installed the system, put fresh cow manure in the system and start to get gas in 2-3 days.
The HRT refers to liquid feedstock, not to gas phase. It defines how long the substrate will remain in the reactor, but does not say anything about the gas that will be independently generated and collected. Cow manure is relatively easy substrate, it starts to decompose fast. To be more precise - the digestion started until it was places in the reactor. That's why it can be used directly as a fertilizer. It will be even decomposed on the field (also emitting methane in a certain amount), just not as fast as in favorable conditions in the reactor. When you placed it in the tank, it accelerated the process which was already in progress. That's why you collected first portion of biogas just after few days.
I agree with the answer of Karol Postawa. I would like to add, that biogas production depends on the type of substrate and its microbial population. If we look at cow manure, it is heavily populated with anaerobic bacteria capable to produce methane and other gases. It means cow manure is producing biogas all the time, even before placement into the bioreactor.
The production of biogas has nothing to do with HRT as mentioned Karol.

Bashu Gautam basically the balloon or the bag or the fabrics used for these type of bag digesters are usually quite thin and the temperature is maintained by exposing it to the air/atmosphere at the same time the L/D ratio is completely different in this case and more bacteria gets more surface area and thus the gas enhancement or production is seen more in this case

It can generated, if there were an inertial manure in the digester. But it is not possible if the digester has nothing before.
