Try to use tamoxifen to inject into mice. I used to dissolve Tamoxifen in Ethanol then dilute out for use, the new lab do dissolve in Peanut oil, it takes long time at room temperature to dissolve, some times we have to heat up for an hour or two at 37 degree. I can not find any reasons of which way is better, bu t my feeling is that it should be initially quick disolve in Ethanol, can anyone help me with some evidence?
We usually use TAM solved in Corn Oil at the concentration of 20mg/ml and stock under -20 degree. Take care to put it into 55-degree the night before you use for administration to activate CreER. When you find the particles still, you should not use it. Otherwise, it would be very toxic, so that you have to hot up for enough time.
Tamoxifen is water insoluble and could be dissolved in methanol, ethanol, propanol, propylene glycol, DMSO, or chloroform. However, these solvents are toxic, so many studies used peanut oil, or corn oil (shaking overhight 37°C!) to dissolve it.

I have followed the recipe from the Jackson Laboratory (see attached link). It is important that you use the tamoxifen free base not the tamoxifen citrate. I use Sigma T5648. The prepared solution is good for the 5 days injection period, kept at 4C.
No need for ethanol, DMSO, or sonication.

Tamoxifen can be dissolved in corn oil. Put it at 55 Degree Centigrade for 1-2 hours but in between keep on vortexing till it dissolves completely.
