I am planning some synthetic genes to express human sequences (an inactive

pro-protease and a structural protein, both with a His and a myc tag) in E. coli for purification, I am open for recommendations on which signal sequences for periplasmic expression to use.

I think, the usuals are pelB and ompA. Do they generally work well (also in respect to cleavage after the protein has been directed to the periplasm) or is there something better you would like to suggest?
