We are extracting HUVEC that need to be tested. Which markers are most commonly used in flow cytometry to identify HUVEC and distinguish them from contaminating cell types? Thanks in advanced for your answers.
These markers mentioned above are OK (PECAM-1 also, despite it is not completely specific). I guess you gonna culture the HUVECs further, after separation. Then it might be even better to check your culture by immunofluorescence microscopy after the cells attached. First, you can see the cobble-stone morphology beside CD31/CD144, and it requires much less cells. Since HUVECs cannot be used beyond 4th or 5th passage, sparing cells at the beginnig is very useful.
