I am looking for (any) microglia cell line (or primary) for my pilot experiment as a Bachelor Thesis Project. Where can I best look? (Netherlands)

Why don't you just cultivate the primary cells yourself? If you have access to or money to order a pregnant mouse you can easily cultivate primary microglia cultures yourself. The pups must be two days old and you start by cultivating astrocyte cultures using the brain, minus cerebellum and oldfactory bulb. After 1 week cultivation you will have a monolayer of astrocytes with microglia cells lying on top. They are easily shaken free and you can harvest the microglia cells and re-seed them. If you are interested I can send you a more detailed protocol, but this procedure should also be available on the internet (publications).
I realize that, but unfortunately I do not have the authority to work with mice in our lab at the moment. My professor advised me to ask from other institutes, but as of yet this has been fruitless. Thank you for your answer, though!
Hello there. My faculty annually buys cells from ATCC USA. Have you tried ATCC?
How about BV2 cells (immortalized murine microglia)? A lot of people work with those cells (I used to work with as well), you may ask someone around for a cryovial.
For murine microglia cell line, BV2 are widely used. EOC microglia cell are another option. These EOC have been developped by Walker from young mouse and need M-CSF. There are different clones of EOC Some of them are available at ATCC. .

I know that I can order some cells at ATCC, but it turned out too expensive for my institute. I tried asking from different institutes and hospitals if they could provide me with a sample, but I couldn't find any. I am now considering using different cells to prove my principle and then write a proposal. Thanks a lot for all the replies though, I hope that I can still order them in a later stadium.
Is anyone using EOC cell line? Our EOC cell line grows quite slow (we split it once a week or every 10 days) and we would like to know how you cultivate it. We maintain it with DMEM, LGln, FBS, PS and CSF1. Thanks!
I'm now using N9 cells now, and they grow really fast. About 2 day passage with 1:10 dilution plating
