Sir Tim Hunt, a nobel laureate was severely punished and deprived of his whole life hard work and career reputation for the comment he made, he claimed that he did a joke only. As human beings change in believes over time based our situations. One time we may favour and other time we may not favour the same thing. Was it worth to punish Dr. Hunt, when no one physically was hurt.

I dont think a punishment is due only for physical hurt. Hunt's comments hurt a lot of people. The anger that we see on social media is basically being directed towards Hunt but is meant for all those people who have discriminated women because of their gender in the lab. I dont think he is being deprived of anything because of his comment.
But yes, he is being targetted excessively for a comment, he made. But it was a stupid thing to say to a bunch of women who had invited him to speak.

When the words are in your mouth, they are at your control; once they are out of your mouth, they are out of your control.
