I personally try to forget things that are causing the stress and try to spend time with family. I heard about meditation but then i don't have a clear idea about it, however i would like to learn.
I personally use some psychological techniques/therapies like "Logo Therapy(Managing Meaning of Things)", "Rational Behavioral Emotive Therapy" and "Neuro Linguistic programming" . They are methods to instantly change your mentality/focus/ state.
There is a book I like to mention that change my view on human mental state, it is called "Man's Search For Meaning by Victor Frankl". Nice book on existential meaning of lIfe.
why is this called therapy? There are techniques to relax during daily life, or not (as mentioned by Kamal/Danish)? I like soft music and I am willing discuss with 'difficult' (what is difficult?) people to create a relax environment. I avoid aggression or environments with aggression.
Stress has become the symptoms for every areas of our social fabrics .our present system ,day to day competition in the areas connected ,unsatisfactory ,behavior under normal routine ,action these are the creation of stress in human minds which percorate the overall line in our physical system.
It is only of mind which can be convenient cure under the will power -proper concentration & if the person is having his liking on spiritual system ,the power of prayer ,meditation ,& simple method of breathing would certain help to get rid of the stress.
Reading always works for me! Being able to escape for a short while into another life really helps me take a break from what is stressing me. Then I can be calm enough to prioritize what I have to do.
Picking up Kimberly´s idea and modifying Ouyang´s a bit, I find vigorous exercise stress-relieving. Particularly taking a swift walk through country scenery is very relaxing. It opens a new world. If weather does not permit, indoor swimming accomplishes the same purpose.
Fishing is my favourite discipline in order to avoid stress! Of course, reading helps a lot and being in nature, escape from the city! Being behind the water is very relaxing.
You look stress free when you have the catch but we want to see while you were waiting for this catch. Really nice pictures keep it up with good health. God bless you.
Stress can be overcome if one thinks about the nice things in this world & becomes involved with what is available at the moment of stress such as going to a nearby garden, seeing the children playing & laughing, feeding some cats, looking at the sky or a sea or lake while forgetting the source of stress.
You can not avoid thinking about the sad and miserable things if they happen around you, right!? For many of us, such things are not global but very ours!
One of the most valuable blessings that God has bestowed on the humans is forgetting. In our lives, we have experienced & witnessed many sad things but as time goes by, these become of lesser impact. If one keeps on remembering & re-calling the sad cases and if one adds to them the present miseries, then this life will be turned into hell. I am not advocating "escapism", but I like to see resilience & withstanding in regard to the frequent stresses we face, otherwise we will simply burst from all the agonies around.
Dear friends, Stress Management - How to Reduce, Prevent, and Cope with Stress give good suggestion to fight stress! It is very important to recognize stress signs!
These coping strategies may temporarily reduce stress, but they cause more damage in the long run:
-- Smoking
-- Drinking too much
-- Overeating or under eating
-- Zoning out for hours in front of the TV or computer
-- Withdrawing from friends, family, and activities
-- Using pills or drugs to relax
-- Sleeping too much
-- Procrastinating
-- Filling up every minute of the day to avoid facing problems
-- Taking out your stress on others (lashing out, angry outbursts, physical violence)
Since everyone has a unique response to stress, there is no “one size fits all” solution to managing it. No single method works for everyone or in every situation, so experiment with different techniques and strategies. Focus on what makes you feel calm and in control.
I agree with most of the suggestions on Subhash's list - they have to be adapted to people's individual situations. Ljubomir is right - whatever we do, if we don't walk away from stressors, we won't succeed in the long run. The problem is that we do not have time or we do not know what to do with it or we fail in organizing ourselves and since we are already stressed, it goes on and on.
Edgar Cayce once said that if we found the time to get sick, we must also find time to recover. It is a very simple and very wise statement. Stress is often unlocking illness and weakens the immune system, so finding motivation in any way and means to get out of the pre-illness state is very important.
Once I thought that music may decrease stress but since it is so emotional it often has quite the opposite effect, time alone and taking walks work better for me but no single technique is good enough. I find stress to be very complicated and hard to deal with because it has so many dimensions and it is ill-defined. Sometimes we may need to undertake drastic changes to get rid of stressors or decrease stress.
Personally, I like writer Marc Levy's suggestion (and I doubt he is the first or the only one to claim that) that surprising ourselves is beneficial for our well-being, that every day we have to stop, take a break, and give ourselves a small gift. It could be a cup of coffee. It is the element of surprise and pleasing that matters.
Surely,we use the basic conceptions of Freud-unconsciousness, replacement, resistance, and transference. In the context of holistic approach,I'm sure, nothing helps,if you are an altruist. Consumer is a main hero in the corrupt society. This kind of person is the most required nowadays. No stress,if something smells money.

What you generally do to decrease the level of stress?
I will perform the following as shared in this RG link. From this link also you can find other scholars' methods to decrease the stress level. Wishing you all the best.
There are many short term solutions to the problem. Here is one long term solution. Mind is made up of subtle materials unknown to science. If it is over stressed it can crack. When you have a low strength steel which is overloaded, what do you do? You increase the strength of the steel, use a better steel. Similarly you can also increase the strength of the mind. Usually yogis and monks are familiar with this. Ordinary men usually fritter away lot of energy in pursuit of enjoyments of the world. This makes the mind weak. When difficult times come the mind becomes incapable of handling the situation. This happens over such a long period of time that no quick fix solution works. A weak mind can be strengthened by abstaining from enjoyments. This stores lot of energy which reaches the mind and the brain. This subtle energy is called Ojas. The mind develops wonderful capacity for concentration and memory. Only such a mind feels inclined to meditate for long hours. Such a mind remains unperturbed in difficult situations and deals with it with a cool head. One should keep in touch with the monks and yogis and learn this technique by observing them.
