Hello,
I am hoping to conduct PCR to determine sex for a species of wild bird. I would like to used blood samples for this. I've been reading that using a lysis buffer to store the blood reduced DNA degradation and improves PCR amplification, but with avian blood being nucleated I wasn't sure what type of lysis buffer to use. I'd prefer to purchase the buffer outright rather than hand-creating a Queen's lysis buffer.
Ideally, the blood would be extracted in the field, placed into a tube with the lysis buffer, then stored in a freezer.
Note: I have not conducted PCR before, so I am very new to this process.
