In DBS settings, I have seen stimulus widths of up to 500 us in duration; however, the most common pulse duration seems to be between 90-150 us. Clinically, mono- or bi-polar electrodes can be used.

I am attempting to simulate DBS on a 12-electrode (simultaneously recording and stimulating), 24-well Multielectrode Array (MEA).

We will only be using one electrode to stimulate the neural network in vitro, using a biphasic square pulse (-/+ cathodic and anodic phase) to overcome the lack of bipolar distributions.

I am unsure what to set the phase duration of each phase. Should each phase be, say, 90-150 us, or should I divide this time between the two phases so the entire pulse matches the clinical settings?
