HPLC grad methanol was contaminated with industrial methanol. In order to remove the impurities created by industrial methanol, the distillation process was done with a Vigreux column, but unfortunately, the impurities were not removed. the UV-Vis spectrum showed a shift towards high wavelength and the amount of cut-off is shifted to more absorbance than that of HPLC methanol. I used the activated carbon and diatomis earth (soil) to remove impurities, but the Spectrum showed the presence of impurities.

What other process do you think can help remove impurities from methanol and what kind of impurity can I have?
