Commercialization is depends from level of investment. If investment made by man who is do not have any relation with research and do not want to understand you will have big problems in future.

Commercialization of research outputs is plausible when their benefits out-weighed more than their costs (include risks) for the public good. This can be achieved when cost & benefit analysis or impact analysis is conducted as wide & as detailed as possible. Secondly, when those benefits or costs can't be quantified / estimated due to the intangibles - then Proof-of-Concept / Proof-of-Idea or Pilot Test can be conducted. Last but not least, literature review including site visit / visit certain foreign countries etc. can be conducted by evaluating how similar scenarios were handled / addressed.

I don't see any issue with the commercialization of research results. It would only benefit the wider community and other innovators would find more applications for your finding. Hiding an important finding and not commercializing it or talking about it is like hiding your money under a pillow: it never sees the light of the day and it does nor grow; additionally if unfortunately the house catches on fire there goes the money into ashes.

I do not think that there is any justification for any research that does not have economic and scientific benefits, and because the government policy in most developing countries do not care to transfer the results of these researches and benefit from them economically and to serve their peoples, I fully agree with this trend regarding the monopoly of research economically by companies or Organizations that transfer research results which serve the citizens and benefit economically.

I don't know why anyone would believe that research can ever be put to good use, making its fruits available to people, without commercialization. As opposed to what, people should be asking themselves? As opposed to research results remaining forever hidden in obscure texts, on a few library shelves?

Commercialization means that companies have taken the risk of putting the research to practical and affordable use, to make self-sustainable products (or services) out of the research results. Take any example. Take battery research. What good is battery research, if it does not lead to evolutionary or revolutionary new batteries, to help solve our energy and transportation problems? That requires commercialization.

The most basic research may often have no immediate commercial applications, but my contention is, when benefits to mankind, aside from just knowledge, can be derived, only commercialization will achieve that end.
