Among many papers a convenient method was used to denature DNA, which is to use the solution of NaOH+Brij. The role of NaOH is easy to understand, but what is the effect of Brij 35 (Polyoxyethylene lauryl ether C58H118O24) ? It is know it is an non-ionic surfactent and detergent, but what exactly does it do in DNA denaturation?

At a guess, I would suggest that the purpose of the detergent is to prevent the exposed bases of denatured DNA from sticking to hydrophobic surfaces, such as plastic.
Brij-35 is a non-ionic surfactant (detergent) and is commonly used to solubilize proteins. Brij® 35 is a copolymer and non-ionic detergent with polyoxyethylene group, It is used for the isolation of functional membrane complexes, since Brij® 35 does neither denature nor dissociate proteins (1). Also applied in chemi-luminescence analysis. When authors used a compound with more than one applications, I believe it is scientifically correct for them to state exactly what the role of that compound in their analysis or experimentation. Not to allow other researchers to wonder about it the way you are doing.
