But I reckon 27 isolates may be not enough for finding positive laccase producers as the laccase gene (although spread over many actinomycetes species) is not expressed so often.
Unfortunately, I don't know if there is any chemical inducer for laccase expression. Usually, the growth medium suffices and the guaiacol reveals the laccase expression in plates.
But sometimes, the expression is very low to be observed in the plates. In this cases, you could perform an enzymatic assays using ABTS (which is more sensible) to check these isolates.
In general, addition of Copper salts tends to induce laccase, since laccase is a copper containing oxidase enzyme. Tween also has positive effect on laccase production from white rot fungi. In certain cases low nitrogen minimal medium also fascilitates production of laccase.
