At temperature T~ 10^12 GeV or above, lepton asymmetries that produced by the out of equilibrium decays of heavy neutrinos do not distinguish lepton flavors. If we go to lower temperature reign i.e., below 10^12 GeV the different lepton flavors are seen to come which is called 2-flavor / 3- flavor regime. How do we explain this phenomena?

If someone can provide 1/2 relevant links or references it would be very useful to have a proper understanding.
