In my opinion, it is not suitable (and also not feasible) to measure the pH in the mineral oil because it is a mixture of non-polar coumpounds. Theoreticaly, it is possible to extract the potential impurities present in the oil into pure water and measure the pH of the extract. I suppose to use mineral oil of the high purity and than the problem o possible impurities will not be actual and pH measurement not imporatnt.

The pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration in an aqueous solution. Because there is no water in oil, there is no pH value of any oil. Oil overlay is used to prevent media evaporation and contamination. Earlier some oils were impure and were found toxic to the cultures due to impurities, therefore were washed with media or water. Measuring pH of the culture media is important and has to be adjusted depending on culture conditions.
I agree with your opinion that there is no need to measure any oil PH because it used for measuring the hydrogen ion in aqueous iquid , while oil does not contain water.
