if you know the molecular weight of the peptides, it will be easy to find out the percentage of the gel to be used, You are saying peptides, it means less than 50 aa, to separate on SDS PAGE you need higher % gel. For 53aa long peptide I use 15% gel. orelse You can also use gradient PAGE.
Hi if you are screening peptides please run a gradient gel 12-16% or run tricene gel. please find attached paper which talks about the purification of peptides. Hope this will help you.
The SDS Page is depending on the molecular weight of the peptide. The large molecular weight molecules with lesser percentage of the SDS page, while the small molecules with high percentage of SDS page
Peptide detection is only possible if you were to utilize a Tris-Tricine gel system. Since they are of relatively small Mr (peptide vs protein), I would start with a high percentage of acrylamide eg;, gradient of 15-25% acrylamide.
