After polyaniline is prepared chemically using aniline and APS, the product is filtered off and washed using certain liquids. Different washing liquids have been used in the literature. Is it possible that the washing liquid deprotonates the produced polyaniline and therefore affects its conductivity? What is the "best" washing liquid for polyaniline?
You mean as a washing liquid or as a reaction medium? May you elaborate more?
Polyaniline has different forms at different pHs. The conductive form ist stable in acidic solution. Avoid any strong basic treatment, it will destroy your material.
Thank you. Any information on what happens to polyaniline if washed with different organic liquids such as acetone, ethanol, chloroform, ...etc? also what happens if washed with big volumes of water? is it possible it gets deprotonated?
