During works related to my master thesis, I have observed that Aspen dynamics integrates a particolar dynamic model for heat exchangers. The steady state gain seems to be nonlinear, due to the fact that it depends on the entity of a disturbance, while the time constant is calculated using the volume of the heat exchanger, and it is always the same. As an example I have provied the dynamic response of the tube side temperature stream to a step change in the cold shell side flowrate. Does anybody knows where to retrive informations on how Aspen Dynamics produces the dynamic model of an heat exchanger?
