I would like to measure insulin resistance in neuronal culture following insulin stimulation. Is anyone familiar with methods that can be used (except of measuring insulin receptor expression etc.)?

Maybe you can try to measure glucose in the cell culture media before and after insulin stimulation.
Insulin resistance may be induced by cell stimulation with elevated concentration of glucose (eg, 25 mM is currently used in other cell types). Try determining the ratio P-Akt/total Akt by western blot before and (10 min) after insulin stimulation in your cell cultures. An altered P-Akt/total Akt ratio may reveal insulinresistant cells.
