I've briefly used MDA-MB-231, but not enough to truly comment. From my work with other adherent cell lines, I generally recommend lipofectamine. I'm currently using lipofectamine 2000. You can probably use Calcium Phosphate transfection for Hela as far as I know, which, while difficult to set up if you're making your own HBS, is very easy to use when up and running and cheap.
You can also look into PEI, jetprime and turbofect. Turbofect (if I remember correctly), is more expensive but very efficient. You may not need efficency though as both of these cells are extremely common and generally easy to work with.
Is your plasmid difficult to handle? Is it very large? More detail about the plasmid would allow you to make the best decision.
