I have mutated a gene in the zebrafish and believe there is a phenotype in homozygous mutants, albeit a subtle one. I am able to pick out mutants at ~4--5 dpf based on a slight bend in their 'neck'; by adulthood this phenotype is no longer present and the fish are comparable to wild-type siblings. My question is, has anyone seen a similar phenotype to this before (see attached image)? And do you have any suggestions about the underpinning cause?
You may gain additional insight by fixing, clearing and doing a cartilage/bone stain. The 'bend' also seems to be in the region of the swim bladder so you might want to examine this organ more closely. Good luck with your experiment.
