HeLa cells are not suitable for packaging lentivirus as the HIV LTR is not active in normal HeLa cell lines.
HEK293 or HEK293T are typically used to produce lentivirus, which can then be used to transduce other cell lines (e.g. HeLa).
I've used Lipofectamine 2000 to produce lentivirus in HEK293T cells previously. I am currently generating lentivirus using X-tremeGene HP DNA transfection reagent (MilliporeSigma Cat# XTGHP-RO) in Lenti-239T cells (Biosettia Cat# celine-01).
Hi everyone and thank you for your answers. Would you have any suggestions for alternatives (the use of the 293 cell line is in conflict with my values due to its origins, hence why I am currently attempting to use HeLa)?
