We buy monodisperse colloidal particles as an aqueous dispersion. In some experiments an ethanol-based dispersion is required. Usually, re-dispersion is easy, and particles retain their stability, but one charge of particles suddenly flocculated in pure ethanol. The purity of ethanol is guaranteed. The particles were purchased and we cannot find out what exactly was different. Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason of instability in ethanol? Particles were presumably produced by Stöber method.
