Precipitation over continents can be triaged by orography, dirunal heating, mesoscale convergence and etc... On the other hand, those kinds of heterogeneities are mostly absent over the ocean. That's why I would like to ask: what kind of mesoscale features over the oceans can trigger precipitation?

(excluding synoptic features, as low level convergence and thermal convection)
