"Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence."
Happiness is one of the most sought-after goals in life, yet for many it seems to be elusive. It's easy to delude ourselves into thinking, "When I just have that nice house and new car, then I can be happy." But in reality, happiness is available to all of us, right now. A big house or a new car won't actually make you happier; it's the simple joys in life that bring true happiness.
5 simple ways that you can start living a happier life today.
1. Do What You Love
If your passion is playing soccer, writing poems, or teaching children how to swim, make time to do it. You'll find that when you're doing what you love, you're filled with joy.
2. Help Others
Sometimes after we've achieved our own personal goals, we still feel empty inside because we haven't made a meaningful contribution to someone else's life. When we volunteer or help others, it feels good to just be of service to someone else. The impact we make feels fulfilling and is a big potential source for our own happiness.
3. Smile More
Practice smiling more and see how it affects you internally, as well as those around you. You can always afford to give a smile.
4. Exercise
Exercise reduces stress and releases endorphins, also known as a "runner's high." Playing sports is a fun way to exercise as well, whether it's kicking around a soccer ball or shooting hoops.
5. Eat Healthy
It's much more challenging to feel truly happy when you're sick. But when you eat right, you feel better both physically and mentally. And you'll avoid that guilty feeling that you just pigged out on junk food.
Happiness... comes in many forms and behaviour. Metaphorically, money can't buy happiness, though by being humble and be respectful to each other, no matter where we came from or what colour skin we are born with...that's a lifetime of happiness especially when your love ones are part of it.
Being happy is a state of mind which is achieved through SATISFACTION! This state can be maintained if you WANT NO MORE and YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!!!
Research usually focuses on depressions and what reduces it.
Research shows that practising Transcendental Meditation reduces depression, e.g. Article Reduction of PTSD in South African University Students Using...
Why does practising TM reduce depression and increase happiness?
Depression is due to some stress, material or structural, in the nervous system.
The default mode of the brain is associated with the experience of bliss.
When the body gets deep rest, it naturally throws off stress.
During TM, as the mind settles down, the body settles down, experiences a state of profound rest, then the various stresses it has accumulated are thrown off.
Then the body will naturally function how it was intended to, i.e. to be happy.
The above suggestions will naturally be followed, e.g. as the mind becomes clearer, what you desire to eat will be good for you. You will naturally become more honest, grateful, tolerant of the problems of those around you, and loving.
You will find that the source of your happiness is inside (not outside), and once you have learned the technique, you have it for life. You are not dependent on anyone else. Regular practice leads to an accumulation of benefits that also includes increasing IQ, creativity, improved health and relationships, greater productivity and security in your social milieu.
The Transcendental Meditation technique is so natural, being based on the brain's natural tendency to be attracted by something of greater charm, and so simple that even a 10-year old child can practice it. At the same time, it is so profound that it is the basis for Yogic Flying.
The greatest happiness comes from sharing the precious resources like time and money with family members, friends and with the peoples who need the most. The satisfaction which one draws from helping others without any expectation is unmatched and eternal.
I have seen adversities in life since childhood and seen my first baby doll son fall from 2nd floor and lost 40% brain from 3 places. I recovered him mostly despite negative prognosis from 15-20 doctors from 2 countries and 3 Hospitals, including Stanford.
Now I live in bliss in every moment. I read Gita and Indian Vedanta a lot, and along it I did Yoga and Meditation. My recommendation, "Vedanta is counselling and Yoga is Prescription".
Basic Needs must be met but keep the needs to minimal. Do not be married to the exterior events and outside people. Be a witness.
Leave the thoughts and emotions that compels your consciousnesses to be competitive all the time .Live a simple , honest life that is built on the principles of cooperation , unconditional positive regard and genuineness in thoughts and behavior.
To be happy all the time is bad for one's mental health. Life challenges alternate problems and happy moments. The tip is - be ready for both, and have a physical and mental strength to follow the life circumstances.
In the essence, happiness is a superposition of 'good feel' moments. Any professional and/or private activities enriched with 'good feel' moments would work for you. It's not right to expect an uninterrupted flow of 'good feel' moments only. As long as we're alive, 'bad feel' moments similar to 'good feel' moments are coming and going.
Usually, a certain balance between those two exists, if the skew into every side isn't significant, and randomly fluctuate at both sides - that's a quite normal situation. Serious problems, issues, mistakes, out of blue events could change the balance substantially. Nevertheless, if you understand the nature of the balance, you would know what to do to reverse the balance back to normal.
Forget others mistakes, forgive and focus on your present . Don't waste time ,be panctual make habits to finish job and don't carry office burden at home and vice versa
Metaphorically speaking: To fulfill your purpose on this earth, to build a house, to plant a tree, to leave an educated survivor. Do not make the shadow of the earth vain.
Happiness = "humanity, kindness, benevolence" or, more descriptively, "modesty, diligence, love of learning and continuous improvement, courage, altruism, respect for others"
Our birth is for not only our happiness but the same an atmosphere we should pass the same to our social environment .With this happiness is in within every individual & it is the attitude of mind which help us to make happy or otherwise of the same .Happiness should not be a temporary range of our mind but also we have to keep our happiness as a treasure of our mind so that it may remain a part of our life .
In order to be happy, I personally beleive that it is important to challenge ourselves to grow and happiness is not an ultimate goal it is a byproduct of our actions.
