We conducted an antibacterial study of a plant extract. Varying concentrations of crude extract were subjected to microbroth dilution assay. The result showed that only the lowest concentration of the extract has exhibited an inhibitory effect. What could be the factors that caused this unusual result? In my opinion, the most likely explanation is that the active component has limited solubility in the growth medium. I suggest repeating the experiment at a lower range of concentrations to make sure the antibacterial effect is reproducible, and to identify the minimal inhibitory concentration.
Did you access the mic based on turbidity photometer data or ?. If so i will suggest you to use resazurin dye.
