before answering, I would need to know at least 4 things:

- what polymer

- what solvent

- which concentration

- how do you stirr

Polymer= PVDF (15-20 %)

Solvent= DMAc & DMF (72-78%)

Mixing speed= 90- 600 rpm

Mixing speed at the first seconds is around 550-600 and then decreases slowly to mix for 24 h in 90 rpm.

i think at the time of changing scale from lab scale to pilot scale , you should consider following factors-

1. shape of container where you carring polymerization solution.

2. propelar design and mixing speed.

3. more solvent may be wastage at pilot scale .

The discussion in that link is more about impeller types and effect of their shapes on dissolving process. Although in scaling up from small lab size up to big mass production shear rate and turbulence are so important on homogeneity of the final solution, this is not only important difference between Lab and Pilot scales. Is not it?

For example heat transfer mechanism also seems to be important. What do you think about this idea?

Reactor or kettle size and design is important for polymerization, Environment of process is dependent on diameter height (D/H) ratio. More over reactor will give different property by having baffle or without baffle .

I think the control of reaction speed is very important. It becomes complicated according to scale(a mount of batch size). Especially temperature.

there is no reaction ongoing, just solvent action (swelling, dispersing the polymer, partially dissolving some chain ends maybe)

the scaling plays into the shear rate which is the critical parameter.
