Hello everyone.
I am trying to simulate two nanoparticles with 50 nm radius, which their distance is varying between 100 nm to 600 nm and compute extinction cross section for them. I need my particles to be half in the substrate and half in the air.
I have computed this model with just one nanoparticle, but as I use the same boundary conditions and method to solve this new problem, COMSOL takes forever and does not solve it for me. Do you have any ideas what might be wrong?

In my experience, the model should work properly. You may need a better PC or you may use some conditions to simplify the modelling. However, if you need a check, please send me your model. I will take a look at it.

I took a look on the model. The model is a periodic model, while extinction cross section must be calculated for a single nanoparticle within an infinite medium. For such calculations, please see the following link:
