The Research work takes lot of efforts and time and resource, and publishing should be an honourable task for both sides. if journal asks for fees, the reserch should be withdrawn.
If it was known to you about publication charges of journal before submission of paper, then it is a mistake on your behalf. If not, then you should immediately withdraw your paper because it is definitely a fake journal. The author should always be careful while submitting a manuscript for publication to a journal.
It is a paradoxical moment and a hard choice .....relying on the authors choice to withdraw manuscript from a journal which is unduly delayed in the process of publication.
With regard to publication fees, except few renowned publishers all are taking fees, some even demarcate fees as per different regions (counties) of the world.
I think you must thoroughly inspect the journal you would want to send your paper. You must be satisfied with their services before sending your paper. Information about their services could be read from their website. There are journals who receive financial support from some funding agencies and educational institutions and as such don't charge APC. Therefore if you don't want to pay APC for your paper, you must select such journals.
The paying of Article Processing charges (APC) in itself does not make journals of less quality as such charges are used by the journals in managing the editorial and publishing costs especially if such journals are not receiving full support from institutions. For such journals, they charge very little and offer discounts to developing countries to defray the publication and editorial costs.
Please, always know the journal inside out before sending your paper because paper withdrawal is unethical unless review comments indicate your paper's inappropriateness for the journal because it is out of their scope or thematic areas.
There are many high quality and referred journals; for which actually our research work is reviewed in genuine sense. If they find our work really extra ordinary then they do appreciate it.. So according to me, why should we depend on one journal. Instead of that we must go for good journals.
Keep away always from Predatory Journals who Published Any thing for money. One must check The Rules and Regulations of Journals before submission of Paper. Regards
No I don't think so. Dear Sir Sandeep Savitaprakash Sharma, to be honest the cost of hosting a journal is very high especially indexing. Some publishers even struggle to pay their membership fees yearly to keep work going. Remember the host the website and they have to pay and they got some employees who they pay also. Please note, there is no free food even in Freetown. If you are offered something for free it means someone paid for it. Let me give you an example, there are two categories of journals that do not charge article processing fees:
1. Those that publish open access for free but are sponsored by their institution, organization or persons. There are many journals in this category.
2. Those that publish it close access for free but put a subscription fee for users such as many journals of Springer, Elsevier etc.
To publish or not to get published, is the discretion of the author, there is a cost connected to research and there is a cost connected to indexing of the journal, both the business are interrelated. but Keep away always from Predatory Journals who Published Any thing for money. One must check The Rules and Regulations of Journals before submission of Paper.
Recognition of good journal is equally important as recognition of good research work.
A researcher is never into the business of research.
A publisher is doing business by publishing a journal
so charging for publishing a good research should be minimal. this is actually the appreciation for the work of Researcher. he don't need anything else.
The paper is Authors property. Copy right lies with Author only. But inform the publisher in advance and necessary proof of intimation to be documented.
Going through research stress, publication headache and now paying to unpopular journal for publication is just too horrible. I will suggest a fast withdraw of the manuscript.
