Is it me or are most studies terribly written. Unless they are published in the Lancet or Nature. Most do not make sense
In the field of economics most articles in the leading journals are generally of high quality as the referees work with authors to improve unclarity in the revision stages of the initial manuscript. Often, though, the mathematical level of the article exceeds the knowledge of the reader, especially those who earned their degrees many decades ago. Articles that appear in the Journal of Political Economy are usually very well written and cutting edge in terms of the discipline.

You make an excellent point! And the reputable journals like you mentioned are not exempt. Some papers even in these journals are terrible! What is the reason? Odd or because scientists/authors are under pressure from their parent organisation to publish more constantly?
