Hello everyone! I'm currently running an in vitro experiment where I test the effects of treating human cancer cells with "starvation media" (aka DMEM media with no FBS) on mTORC1 signaling. I then lyse the cells for western blotting.
My PI wants me to include a marker of cell stress/starvation in my experiments. Does anyone know of a protein that is known to have increased expression during starvation stress?

Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are highly abundant molecular chaperones which are observed under stress conditions to enhance cell survival. Their expression is induced in situations involving cell stress such as serum starvation. You may include HSP70/90 as markers of cell stress/starvation in your experiment.
