I am currently having an issue. My reagent shows some slight coloration overtime. As soon as we see coloration I see my test failing most often. I think the reagent loses its enhancing potency overtime. Will adding a stabilizer work and what? Or can you suggest something on this?
firstly you should check the pH.as according to your required procedure and secondly check the light sensitivity of your reagents or you can add buffer to stabilize for long time duration.
About which reagent are we talking? Its often advisable to aliquot reagent when you first open a new bottle and store them under appropriate conditions (this depends on the reagent and doesn't always mean freezing!).
Besides that: If you have a buffered substance you will not see any (or at least only very little) changes in pH. Buffered Phenol is such a substance.
