I'm doing some in vitro studies that need to culture cells with low PBS concentration to mimic plasma. Is there any commercial available medium with lower PBS concentration (1/5 than normal)? Thanks.
PBS as far as I understand is specifically designed to match the osmolarity of the plasma but with the additional buffering provided by the phosphate. Is it the phosphate specifically that you wish to reduce? The recipe for PBS is simple enough so you could easily make this up with the required level of phosphate, filter and autoclave then you have exactly what you want.
