Do you know a good kit or protocol to quantify the mitochondrial DNA damages ? Thing is that I have to evaluate this point for some cells treated with a drug inducing hypoxia. I already found a kit from Detroit R&D (https://www.detroitrandd.com/store/mitochondrial-dna-damage/mitochondrial-dna-damage-assay/real-time-pcr-dna-quantitation-after) but it will take a long time for it to be received, so I'm searching for another method...

you could try to use JC-1 staining: this protocol is widely used in apoptosis studies to monitor mitochondrial health.

Most mtDNA assays are PCR based. Another option would be to do mito protein elisa or proteomics
