Hi, the issue with QMP being used as a total regulator is still debatable even in honeybees (Apis mellifera) where QMPs had been studied in great detail. You may need to refer to the following publications: Strauss et al. (2008) The role of the queen mandibular gland pheromone in honeybees (Apis mellifera): honest signal or supressive agent? I belief that would be a good start.
