Hello, I work with XL30 TEM Philips Scanning Electron Microscope and I'm having problem with stage homing. When I wont to do home the stage, this message appears "SMCB handler-error ack needed (c12800f)" right after warning "Sample touch alarm". If I don't do homing, just get sample in the chamber and start working, it forbids me to move the stage, whole stage control is blocked. Can somebody please tell my what this mean and how can I fix it?

"Sample touch" message may indicate you are using too big specimen, non standard specimen holder or just software error.

I think it's software error, I wanted to work it out myself but I'll have to call somebody.
Do you know if the sample really touches the pole piece cover or not? Do you have any view of inside the chamber?
While homing, stage does not go up, only down. So, I would not expect specimen touching polepiece. But if specimen is too wide, it can touch walls of chamber. Another possibility - a faulty limit switch.
Yes that is true, if the software works properly then it shouldn't go up. About the walls of the chamber I am not sure if touching them can trigger a touch alarm or not.
