Hi all,

I know this is a typical phenomenon, but after reading I'm not getting a convincing explanation.

I prepared 4 L of a buffer containing 10 mM KH2PO4 and 1 mM MgSO4*7H2O. This time I checked the pH during the dissolution and I realized that the pH was 5 (likely acidic milliQ water!). Anyway, I raised the pH to 7.8 adding KOH pellets. After autoclaving, there is a good amount of salts that precipitated out of the solution.

Why did this happen?

thanks, Guillermo
