Dear Friends,

I want to measure prebiotic activity of some samples (by comparing growth of 3 bacteria (2 prbiotics and one E.coli ) on some samples to see if the samples are encouraging for good bacteria compared to bad bacteria (over 24 hours). Do I have to start for all bacteria the same OD or do they have to have the same CFU/ml? It seems that having the same OD doesn't necessarily they have same CFU. SO I am not sure to fair comparison for comparing their growth over 24 hours what should be the starting point criteria.  Starting with the same OD is much easier than calculating the CFU for specific OD and starting with the OD which is associated with particular CFU. But I am not sure if I start for all bacteria with for example OD of 0.1 at 600 nm would be acceptable. Please let me know your opinion. Thank you very much
