I am working for a company that produces clutch discs and clutch covers for commercial cars. One of the most important parts of clutch covers is the diaphragm spring. Diaphragm springs must be under shot peening to increase clutch covers’ fatigue life. As observed in the attached files, both sides of the diaphragm springs must be under shot peening. However, when operators of the production lines apply the process on one side of the diaphragm spring, they forget to turn it for shot peening on the other side. This process is a manual process and it depends on the operator’s concentration. Since the box of the process is under a huge number of bullets, we are not able to install any censors. So, we should find a mechanism to be this process mistake proofed.
I am looking forward to hearing from anyone who has a suggestion for mistake-proofing.
