I'm looking for a non neurotoxic brain dye that I can infuse into the ventricles through osmotic pumps, to be sure that I'm doing the infusion in right way. The mice must survive for at least 15 days. I need also that the dye could be internalised by the cells surrounding the ventricles.

DAB might work, there are also viral vectors that should work... Maybe AAV9, I think I have read about someone doing something similar, but I am unable to recall where I read that.

They use a fast green dye.
If an acute injection is an option with your surgical prep, low dose angiotensin will give a robust but transient drinking response (for half an hour, they will be holding the water outlet with both forepaws, drinking continuously).
