I am trying to model an evaporator which evaporates water to steam in Matlab/simulink. Are there any governing equations i need to know and follow when modelling the evaporator mathematically? Please let me know.
The governing equations are, as always, continuity, momentum and energy, plus mass diffusion, if applicable. However, you will most probably be using energy balances coupled with correlations for heat diffusion. The (heat transfer) correlations will depend on your system and heat source (embedded or radiative sources, forced or natural convecion flow etc). My suggestion is to start with a simplied problem (e.g. energy balance) and see what you can put together by using appropriate correlations/models for the heat transport.
