Yes Brother! I had contacted NCCS cell repository for the same. They said they have 293T cell line. Is that the one I should be using as packaging cells?
Depending on your plasmid; Lentiviral or gamma retroviral, you can choose 293T cells or Phoenix cells (293T cells stably transfected with gamma retro viral packaging genes). For lenti, 293T cells are co-trasfected with packaging plamid , envelope plasmid and transfer plasmid (with gene of your interest) to produce lentivirus to infect your host cells. For gamma retroviral, Phoenix cells are transfected with just transfer vector alone to produce the retrovirus. It is not possible to produce lentivirus in Phoenix cells, as they don't have the lentiviral packaging genes. Hope it helps.
