But don´t be surprised if you find C in EDS map also on pure copper grid. Two elements - O and C - are usually present in every EDS analysis. They originate from microscopic condensation layer created on sample surface while sample is exposed on lab´s atmosphere. I still use plasma cleaning of sample which remove this contamination. 

you can use Formvar coated grids instead of Carbon Coated ones, too.
