I fear you have to be a little bit more precise in what you are really intersted in. What physical properties are you looking at? What are the geometrical parameters of the model you would like to work with?
i guess you want to simulate the process of coating growth during either of the one coating deposition process. In this case CFD software such as FLUENT is readily useful.
I would recommend you Comsol Multiphysics, which is quite similar to ANSYS Fluent and is very useful if you are not willing to learn simulation from the scratch. You should be able to handle it pretty fast!
You are interested in possible chemical reactions between the polymer and the substrate or you would like to calculate the interaction force? In the end you would like to know how the coating influences the mechanical properties of your substrate?
I'm interested in possible chemical reaction between the polymer and the substrate, and at the end I would like to know how the coating influences the mechanical properties of my substrate.
Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately Comsol is not made for predicting chemical reactions but you can definitely simulate the mechanical property change due to the coating with the structural mechanics module.
If you are interested in the related field of the coating process we are performing hydrodynamical simulations with Fluent regarding the droplet transport from the atomizer to the target and the dynamics of the droplet impact. If you like we can exchange about these topics.
To know the coating influence ypu have to take the interactions between coating and substrate relying on few experiments. Then you can optimise that using DOE (Design expert 8) where it will tell you precisely with high confidence the influence of the coat.
